Tap Dance is a percussive style of dance where dancers use the metal taps on specially designed shoes to strike the floor with their feet, often danced to popular music.

  • at least 5-6 feet of space beyond your arm span
  • flooring that is not too slippery and not too sticky
  • comfortable clothing you can move freely in

Participation in Dance Education Canada Inc. (DEC) online classes involves certain participation risks. Accidents may occur while participating in these activities and these accidents may cause injury. Potential injuries range from minor cuts and abrasions, sprains and strains, dislocations and fractures to more serious injuries such as head, neck, or back injuries which could lead to paralysis or life threatening complications. Injuries may result from the nature of the activity and can occur without any fault of the dancer or DEC, its affiliates, its employees or agents, or the facility where the activity is taking place. By participating in these activities, you assume the risk of an injury occurring. Carefully following instructions at all times and being physically fit to participate in the activity will reduce the chance of an injury/accident occurring. DEC suggests consulting a doctor prior to participating if you are unsure whether or not you are in an adequate physical condition. Being aware of your own physical health and limitations and always working within those limitations is highly advised. These classes should not be constructed as medical advice and are intended only for general education and demonstration purposes. They should not be applied to any specific individual condition. Always consult a physician before beginning any exercise program. Please be aware that it is expected that you have properly and fully warmed up before participating in any of the classes, combos and/or exercises.
